Collaboration Survey
‘Only 7% of manufacturers were effectively managing their supply chains, but they were 73% more profitable than non-adopters’,Delloites’ Study of Manufacturers 2003.
Increasing collaboration within the Scottish food and drink industry is a development priority for the new leadership organisation Scotland Food & Drink, and a cornerstone in achieving the goal of positioning our country internationally as “The Land of Food & Drink”.
SAOS in partnership with Scotland Food & Drink, and supported by Scottish Enterprise are currently exploring ways of enhancing collaboration within the Scottish food and drink supply chain as a means of increasing profitability and driving sustainable growth within the sector. SAOS will be carrying out a survey to help us establish a baseline of collaborative activity in Scotland. The outputs will also help us to develop a range of practical activities and solutions to support you that will also help increase the understanding and awareness of the benefits of collaborative development.
Your answers to the questionnaire will be treated in the utmost confidence and used solely for the purpose of this study. It only takes 10 minutes to complete.
Extensive research has shown collaborative supply chains to be:
- Faster and more responsive – they can quickly bring new product ideas first to market, more closely matching demand with supply
- Competitive and sustainable - demonstrating less wastage, greater added value, shared planning and market forecasting and delivering benefits throughout the chain
- More efficient - through resource sharing, continuous improvement and joint investment decisions
- More stable - through a focus on medium to long-term returns and through trust, based on a commitment to mutual support and aligned interests
- More robust - offering retail and foodservice buyers an integrated and flexible supply chain solution
- Fairer - with rewards and benefits shared fairly throughout the whole chain
You may have identified a business opportunity that you feel would be better exploited in partnership rather than alone, or perhaps you are facing some serious potential threats to your business and can’t see how you can resolve these alone.
