How to Apply For Membership of SAOS
SAOS is a registered co-operative society, with limited liability status, constituted in accordance with the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts.
Membership of SAOS is open to any business, legal entity or association that wishes to support the purpose of SAOS and agrees to abide by our Rules and pay an annual affiliation fee.
Applications for membership should be addressed to the Secretary, and include details about the business that is making the application; name, registered office, nature of business activity, and enclose a recent set of accounts.
The Board of SAOS will consider applications received at its next meeting, and has the powers to accept or reject applications for membership.
On approval of an application for membership, the new member must subscribe for at least 100 shares of £1 each. Shares are neither transferable nor withdrawable.
Affiliation fees are set by members in general meeting, and are levied according to turnover on the following scale, and are subject to VAT:
First £5 million of turnover - 0.3p per £1,000
Thereafter - 0.175p per £1,000
Minimum fee - £250
To illustrate; a business with turnover of £1 million pays £300 affiliation fee.
