As part of the United Nations' International Year of Co-operatives,we have launched a new Farmer Co-ops in Scotland booklet to let everyone know about the benefits of farmer co-ops, which are opening a world of opportunities for family farmers.
Some of these benefits include:
- save on investment and costs
- add scale and expertise to marketing
- add value
- manage risk.
Some 65 per cent of Scotland’s farmers believe that co-operation is a key to real
commercial gains, and more than 80 farmer co-ops throughout Scotland generated combined annual sales in 2009 of almost £2 billion.
Our campaign began in the Borders in November 2010 with the case studies below. For the International Year of Co-operatives in 2012, we have produced a booklet featuring 30 of our farmer co-op members in Scotland. Find out how these organisations have profited from their co-operative approach to business by viewing the Farmer Co-ops in Scotland booklet.
We’d be delighted to provide further information. Just email us or give us a call.
